Molecular Jewelry

Luz Blanco : rasters and pixels

Luz Blanco, at his Soft Error exhibition, shows graphic works done with rasters and pixels, seen as a meaphor for a parcellary memory. Drawing is, for the artist, a meditative, mechanical activity, rebuilding the image pixel after pixel, including erasing and errors.

Thses drawings start with photographic rasterized documents, taken as memory filters. Blanco refers himself to Saint Augustine (Confessions) and graphically works on one of the saint's works.

Flusseriana An Intellectual Toolbox
Freestyle thinking – that is Vilém Flusser’s intellectual modus operandi.
His thought knows no disciplines or subjects, above all else it wants to intervene
in ongoing cultural and artistic processes and influence them.
In order to achieve this, no closed theoretical systems are necessary,
only open, operative structures.
The »Flusseriana« is a toolbox capable of being developed and expanded.
It contains more than 200 “thinkthings” (Denkdinge) of all kinds.
More than 100 authors produced the entries under these lemmata.
That is dialogic practice – entirely in the spirit of the philosophical writer from Prague,
whose works can be seen at the exhibition »Without Firm Ground – Vilém Flusser and the Arts« at the ZKM.
